What every movie has…

Here’s a cool article that goes through the origins of something we all see, yet we probably never really think about the origins of. It goes through six of the most common Hollywood Studio Logos. Even though it’s not nearly as iconic as the rest of them, I’d have to say that the Dreamworks intro is my favorite. dreamworks-logo.jpg

It just stirs some excitement that you’re either going to see some crazy animation or a wild adventure from Mr. Spielberg. For the MGM, I bet you guys didn’t know that they’re on the fifth lion, and that his name is Leo.

Checkout the article for more in depth descriptions on the origins of each logo.

I love that moment when you’re at the movies and the studio logo comes on…
The lights go down and you know the movie is just about to begin, and you’re in anticipation of the next couple of hours- and being taken on a journey usually far away from your own reality.

Oh yes, you hit a good one this time. I agree with you on the DreamWorks logo…another stirring one the article didn’t get to was Icon pictures. The first time I saw that one was for “Immortal Beloved,” about Beethoven…a film that made me cry.

Our older son (almost 3) looked over my shoulder and named movies associated with some of the studio logos. A little film buff in the making!

Seriously, I love the anticipation built by these magestic, symbolic logos.

My favorites one have always been the Paramount logo, and back in the day Orion..lots of classics under the Orion logo.

Just started reading your blog, and I totally agree with this post. It’s always created that feeling of building up anticipation just to see the logo coming out on screen.

I love the DreamWorks and Paramount logos. Don’t really know why ‘cept it gives me a feeling of really being able to escape to dreams.

Love seeing the progression of the studio logos, too.

yes I really like the dreamworks one. The logos also remind me of being little and excited at going to the movies.

I never thought of the origins of the Studio Logo until i read your blog about it. Whenever i watch any movies its always the logo that makes me feel excited to see what movie that comes under this studio…exciting? comical? thriller? sci-fi? I cant choose any as all these studio logos are my favorite!

I love the logo’s they use. My son when he see’s the logo he stops talking and sits down to watch the movie. My son every time sees the lion knows the movie is going to start. On sci-fi the logo is the fearnet.com or some kind of knife that comes on before the movie starts (watch alot of horror & sci-fi / love it) My twins(my girls) cry everytime they hear the lion. It scares them but they are still young ( close to 4 months)

I remember the first time I saw the Dreamworks introduction… I was impressed with it, I remember clearly, and a bit touched with the feelings it invoked.

I also like the lion one that preceeds the cartoons, where they have a cartoon character in the circle roaring instead of the lion… cute.

I love the previews that run prior to the film… there are so many previews now that when the introduction pops up, I’m usually busy trying to remember what film I’ve come to see. I know… sounds bad, right? I hear it only gets worse as you get older… fun. =)
