I was looking for something to write about, and I saw this article about the craziest intersections. Given, I do enjoy the cheaper gas prices, but it seems like the traffic around LA is directly related to the gas prices. Yesterday was nonsense for a Tuesday in LA. But after seeing this article, I guess I can’t complain too much.
There are definitely some worse places to be driving than LA. I don’t know if I’d ever be able to make a left turn in this intersection….
even after reading this diagram. Then the second part of the article shows some of the worse traffic jams that happen in these complex intersections.

I’ll take LA traffic over Manila traffic anyday *grin* there’s still a modicum of civility in LA anyway. Here, it’s every person from themselves at times… when it decides to move, that is.
I’m just thankful they really aren’t on our street maps or internet directions like that. By the time I circumvented all those angles on the diagram, I would’ve forgotten where the hell I was going.
Hey… that last picture looks like a bad day I had once in D.C. I don’t drive there anymore… everyone there is probably very relieved. =)
When I was still a kid, I lived in LA. I honestly can’t remember much of how it was back then, but I’m sure here in the Midwest where I now live, it pales in comparison to what people there in LA have to put up with on a day-to-day basis. And Manila– haven’t they’ve been trying to moderate traffic flow by limiting what days of the week different cars can hit the road? That was many years ago when I learned of that, and I can only imagine it’s done barely anything if they’re still trying to do that.
Oh-kay. Now I got the chance to look at ALL the pictures…
One word: Mayhem.
Generally good at following directions, but… those directions gave me a headache.
And I thought New York was the worst place to drive. That’s pure madness.
It don’t get that bad here. But I can walk every where. Don’t have to drive all the time. 5 mins. there or 10mins there which is good.
I must pose the question, “Were the people who designed these Freeways on some serious snow?” That’s ridiculous. By the time you finished making your left turn, you would have forgotten where the hell you were going. And the traffic is crazy. That place is locked up like a chastity belt. I’m so spoiled with these country Highways.
Wow that’s really disgusting all those highway’s and cars.
The second picture is taken from russian (Moscow) map. Do U know this country? I live there, and such directions and maps are ordinary for me and all russians:)))
Far out! I bet New Delhi is worse! they don’t understand the meaning of traffic lanes. My dad was there for work and wanted to visit the Taj Mahal and they got stuck at a railway crossing. The train took 15mins to pass and then it took another 15 mins to deal with the traffic jam afterwards. Some civil engineers most have fun designing these disasters.
Do you know where the worse traffic jams are? I mean, the ones in the pictures? I would kill myself if I had to deal with that traffic! Ok, maybe not that bad, but that left turn kills me.
Andrea :p
Wow I’d be lucky to drive on a fly over in Australia haha…
Ha-Ha, that’s Moscow!!! Really didn’t expect to see it here. We really have awful traffic jams and such huge and complicated intersections. Who designed them??? I’m afraid of driving there
There was a picture of Moscow. I live there. the city is full of such disasters! We don’t like driving there!
Looking at this is making me dizzy and cross-eyed.
