With all these obscure Olympic sports that come out every four years, here’s a list of some other (most extreme) sports that are competed around the world. I’ve only actually seen a couple of them ever performed, but I’m sure some of them would be crazy to watch, let alone actually competing in any of them.
1. Extreme Ironing
2. Zorbing
3. Street Luging
4. Shrovetide Football
5. Rock Fishing
6. Bull Riding
7. Base Jumping
8. Kite Jumping
9. Free Diving
10. Cheese Rolling
11. Rock Jumping

Some people will always find new and more creative ways to mangle themselves… and call it fun. Some people spend their lives trying to avoid things in order to stay in one piece… go figure. I’m glad these are pictures and not video because I would be scared to watch some of them. lol.
Zorbing: Are people INSIDE those things? hmmm… that might be a possibility.
Most look self-explanatory but I can’t figure out the cheese-rolling… and don’t tell my birth-mom or she will arrive at the event, ready to eat… blame Taco-Bell with the cheese rollup things.
Comment on bull-riding which has been around forever… why anyone wants to ride an extremely angry animal with at least 4 times your muscle mass and is armed with horns AND hooves is entirely beyond me. Any of those events featuring wild (or angry) animals is twice as fool-hardy to me…
you missed one… the running of the bulls. I’m not touching it either. lol.
=)
I think that I practice Cheese Rolling…
I’m kidding… if it were a bar of chocolate, haha…
what about you sung? which of these sports do you practice?
OMG…Sung has done it again! Thank you so much for making me laugh. God knows I could use a good chuckle today. Thanks for uplifting my spirits. But you forgot Parkour! That’s pretty extreme. This old gal will stick to skateboarding (that’s pretty extreme for anyone over 45).
Have a great one Sung and keep up the good work.
Janet, the “Jersey Girl.”
The pitch of the hill in that cheese rolling video is crazy. Zorbing kind of looks like fun.
What about extreme sleeping? Ever seen a toddler sleep? Our son is under his toddler bed, fast asleep, on all fours with his butt in the air. How can he sleep like that?
The pictures are so amplify.
I have seen stuff about most of these before I think the rock jumping and the base jumping are the most dangerous. I’ll admit I’m rather drawn to the idea hmm will have to save up and go sky diving instead before the end of the year or should I stick to abseiling and rappelling in the mean time. I remember hearing about one of the world champion basejumpers dieing on his last jump before he was due to retire he left a wife behind not sure about children though. Maybe they should add trying to get through a traffic jam in New Delhi in record time as an extreme sport too. I like the idea of in some major city, of some engineer designing a glass floor at the very top of a really tall building that one can walk/crawl across looking down at everything below. That would be a rush just to get across. Yes a guess I’m a bit of adrenaline junky… well I’ve enjoyed speed rollerskating and climbing up to the top of the 15 meter tall tree I had in my backyard when I was a kid.
I’ve seen heaps of people rock fishing around Sydney, as there are too many places to do that here …… crazy stuff watching these guys rock fishing , who have seem to have no fear of getting washed out by gigantic waves …. some scary & weird stuff people do for a thrill….LOL
wow, to be honest i think these ’sports’ are pretty ridiculous. seems like anything can be called a sport these days. and for these to actually be olympic sports?! wow! hahaha. i had no idea about these, thanks for letting me know Sung!
I did not know that some of those are sports. People can come up with some diffierent things.
I think, today, that I’m ready to do that zorbing… really I can’t imagine being any more dizzy than I feel right now… I would kind of like to actually have a reason for being so dizzy for a change.
