Heres a crazy article I read about the new race to make a space elevator. I guess the technology isn’t there yet, but scientists are predicting it to be available in the near future. The idea revolves around deploying a satellite in space, which will be anchored to the earth by some sort of super cables. Once that is in place, the elevator portion of it will travel up and down along that cable. It would be pretty crazy if they can actually pull this one off. It reminds me of the what the aliens had when they invaded us in Independence Day.

Its amazing that this idea is even possible, it just goes to show that ‘the sky is the limit’- literally! But shouldnt we first be spending the money trying to end poverty, finding cures for diseases like AIDS & Cancer and cleaning up the environment? Shouldnt the preservation of life come before transport?
Besides- I wouldnt want to be stuck on THAT elevator! Ha ha ha ha ha…
Well, it wasn’t that long ago when computers were the size of buildings, the only kind of mail were shipped and delivered through metal boxes, the word “cell” only referred to things inside jails, “web” only refered to what spiders spun, and “nets” were only for catching fish…..
Things have really changed….
There’s no freakin’ way I’m taking an elevator into space. I prefer to visit places that have air.
Being able to breathe is good…
1) Reminds ME of the alien queen in “Aliens” when she caught up with Newt and Ripley on the landing pad.
2) I wouldn’t like to be stuck on THAT elevator… I would imagine that the response time to get you out would not be good.

Believe it or not my friend’s sister actually is one of the people working on this. She sends updates home a lot and they really are working hard on this especially as a way to bring supplies and people back and forth to the international space station.
I wonder if you can do scientific research around greenhouse gases with it?
Its pretty cool what we come up with. It is also like war of the worlds. How they came down to take over. Soon we might be living on mars as soon as they figure that out.
