GO SEE IT! Danny Boyle just gets better as he gets older. You may remember some of his early work such as Trainspotting, 28 days later, and Sunshine. Slumdog Millionaire is one of the most amazing movies I never knew I’d be interested in. Its inspiring to see strong ability still exist in this capitalistic industry. He paints a portrait of India that I have never seen before. A heartwarming, “real” story that has strong themes and serious realities in a world that is very influenced by the west. Anyways, I know I only review the movies I like, but like they say in the industry, word of mouth is still the best marketing tool that there is. And although I have no stake in this project, I am just compelled to help spread the word.
Slumdog Millionaire!!!

sounds like an interesting film - IF one can put to one side the annoyingness of the “who wants to be a millionaire” TV show format (which seems to be a central part of the film)! LOL (i’d have to look away/block my ears for those scenes…!)
nice to see a film set in india that seems to not be full of the bollywood stereotypes!
I completely understand only reviewing the films you like. Of course, as a journalist, I have to be objective. But I prefer to use my movie reviews and my blog to show the positives in film, and to promote Asian-American film (because better representation for Asians is something I believe in).
I do want to see this one. I appreciate you letting us know about new and different films–it broadens our horizons. And we could all use a little horizon broadening…
its playing in a limited run here.i’ll defitnely check this one out.
btw,Gran Torino and seven pounds were the most compeling movies i’ve seen this year.next up Valkarie.

I also thought this was an excellent film. You don’t have to worry, Sarah. “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” mostly serves as a method to explore the background of the main character. Every question he answers on the show has a connection to something he experienced. It will definately keep your attention all the way through.
There is one “Bollywood” moment in the end credits though. There are few Indian movies I’ve seen that haven’t indulged in an MTV-like musical number (often for no apparent reason). I’m glad they at least waited until the end of the movie.
I heard it was going to be a good movie
Wow, Thank Sung. This movie looks great. Please tell me it is going to be around everywhere in america. This movie looks like what I’ve been waiting for in any movie. Thank you for posting this. Great job spreading the word.
I think it is great that this movie was nominated for an an Academy Award (Oscar). I hope it wins Best Picture!!!!
They just won a SAG award. Maybe Oscar is in their future…hmmmm.
