Most of you may have heard but there was a plane crash yesterday, yet the good news is that all 155 people survived the crash. Apparently the aircraft struck a flock of geese which took out both engines as the plane was taking off. Then the pilot - Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger - was forced to perform a heroic landing on the Hudson River. Heres some footage from msnbc:

Praise God… I’m sure most of those people are.
It was a very good thing that everyone survied. It also was very smart of the pilot to land the plane in the river. If he would of landed the plane on land it could of been very bad. Which shows he was very good and smart on his feet. All the tug boats near by to respond and to help shows people do think and still will help others in need. I am very glad everything turned out good for everyone that was on the plane at the time.
This is quite literally coming in on a wing and a prayer. Watching news footage now. Incredible courage, and it’s so great to see that when the worst happen, people do not hesitate to help. So happy everyone got out.
*happens in the post above. Must be getting sleepy lol almost 3 AM here. Must sleep, lotsa cooking to do later but can’t quit watching the news.
I am so glad that everyone got out safely. I am also suprised that help got there so quickly. I am glad that everything turned out for the best.
Laugh if you want, but many of the truths of life can be found in old country songs, and I can’t help but think of the one that says, “Sure could use a little good news today.” In a world full of horrible ?&%* happening, this was a breath of fresh air.
Indeed, thank you God for sparing their lives.
Amazing.
this was close to home…I live in New Jersey. I cross the Hudson all the time to go to New York. Thank goodness everyone is ok and thanks to the pilot for his quick thinking and courage.
this was a very amazing story! elena’s right, moments like this remind you of the good/lucky things that happen in the world!
I read about this a couple of days ago. I was thinking..what if I was in some of those people’s shoes. What exactly would go through my mind? How would I react? Things that make you wonder for sure.
When i first heard the new, my heart dropped. Then as the reports came in that everyone survived i just had to stop a moment, because hearing something good on the news never happens anymore.
All praise to the pilot! Just a point Tiffany hitting water can be just a dangerous as trying to crash into land just try doing a bellyflop into a swimming pool some time and you will know what I mean. I think the fact that the aircrtaft had just taken off when the incident occured and that it possibly wasn’t at maximum speed ment that the aircraft didn’t break up or break up as badly as it could have. I’m currently having a great time in Canberra. I went to the national gallery and they currently have the works by the French Master Painter/artist “Degas” wasn’t bad, they had the famous sculpture of the fourteen year old girl with the real tulle skirt and bodice.
Catherine, If they crash into land others would of been hurt. People that were not even on the plane would of been involed in it. Which would of cause a death toll. Plus when it blow there was a fire. In water it puts it out. If it crash on land there would of been a fire. The water help in not causing a big death poll and with it in water there was no death toll at all. Which was very good and fast thinking. And a factor is that it just toke off they had control of the plane which made him be able to land it in the water safe. Without belly floppen. On land it still would been a big prob. The fire and others on land. More would of been involed. It also saved near by bussiness of top of that in water.
And one more thing. If a Car is coming at you and loses control. You can’t out run it. If a plane is crash landing no matter how fast it is going. You can’t out run it. If a cheetah is after you. You can’t out run it.
In the water it saved other lives. It was fast thinking on thier part. That was my point to begain with the frist time I commented.
I am also so happy that no one died in this and our able to live and have a great story to tell as the years go on to fam. and friends.
And GOD bless all that help.
Oh one more thing.
GO STEELERS.
Win on sunday. So we can go to the Superbowl.
STEELERS
I was amazed at how quickly they got everyone out. All too often it results in tragedy, but this time it was the complete opposite. I heard about it, and before they said anything, I thought of how cold that water was and that surely that many people would have died. I love being wrong in this case.
I commend the pilot’s who landed the plane “softly” on the water. To think under that kind of pressure is unimaginable.

God bless all of them.
Not necessarily a miracle but pretty damn close.
Makes me proud of mankind that we can still come together in times like this and forget our own needs for the sake of others.
Regardless of what you believe as a higher power, force or karma, in this instance all came together at the right time in the right place. Wish we could see more of this with all the suffering in the world.
I feel this was meant to happen to celebrate Obama’s inauguration. It is not the best timing to become the leader of the World. There are so many terrible things happening, some of which we may need to give up. But the first priority is everyone’s life. Just like this captain made sure, Obama can let all of us survive! (I guess I’m not the only one who is talking like this.)
By the way, I just took a US Airways’ flight back from Charlotte last October. I used to fly in and out of LGA, NY a lot. So, I can’t help feeling I could’ve been one of the passengers there.
PITTSBURGH GOING 2 THE SUPERBOWL
GO STEELERS
PITTSBURGH
I look like you.
New reports have said that the plane was already having probs. 2 days before the flight. It was having probs. with its compressor stall. The national transportation safety board did an examination and put it in the maintenance record log on jan 13th. They know the plane was having probs. even before it took off. so why did they even let that plane go knowing it was not up to par. Know everyone on that flight is going to get 5,000 in pay. The national trans. safety broad should of never let it out of the airport
I feel a movie will be in the works. Thank God everyone made it out okay.
