Here’s a crazy article about a little town (Lewes) in the U.K. that decided to print its own local currency to boost it’s local economy. They have the right idea, although I doubt it’s going to work. On another note, it almost sounds like the Fed over here in the US. We just keep on pumping out more and more U.S. dollars. Last I heard, we’re close to hitting the 10 trillion dollar mark for our national debt. I guess we can all hope for the best and a turn around in worldwide economies. Maybe Mr. Obama or Mr. McCain will have some answers.

oh heck yes i agree. Times are tight and the war in Iraq needs to end. I hope they do have some good ideas.
I agree. If mr McCain gets in office nothing will change. Because of the money being put out, programs are being cut. Like housing for people. Each state now has to pay their own housing. The fed no longer helps. In my state their is no longer section 8 housing because of money. They are also talking about taking away welfare because of money. This is just the start of things. They will not stop the war in Iraq till they get what they want. The oil. Are country is running out. We have way to many oil wells dryed up. Because of that the fed are not going to stop till they get it. With times being tough people are going to start killing for 50 cents and you have people sending money on stupid stuff when times are like this. Obama will try to fix it but, it is to big for one man to do.
If US dollar lost it value against the rest of the currency in the world, that may be the time to get more foreign investors here in USA. Poeople with cash will loose while people with debt relieved? I’m just shooting in the dark here. Infration = bad.
Hmmmm….printing more money not really a complete solution, from the looks of the article. Yep, the economy is a mess. Wish I had some answers too.
thats interesting. it kind of funny how america is in so much debt yet it (the government) still finds money to spend. i live in chicago, so I am not sure if you’ve heard. They want to pay CPS (chicago public schools) students for getting good grades. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-ap-il-goodgradespayoff,0,4855654.story … not sure this economy is going to go anywhere to soon with the way people want to spend money.
..and america has been in debt for years it has finally hit us where it hurts
I think that is cool that in chicago, they pay the students for good grades. I am from pittsburgh. They are to busy closing schools down. Last past 3 years they have been closing schools. Over 300 different ones have closed already and more to come ( in talk).

you know… it seems to me that lots of people right here in the good ole US of A have had that idea for awhile now… that is why almost all businesses have those nifty little pens checking your bill’s authenticity… crafty little buggers. I wonder what our Feds would do if a town over here got together and did something like that?
But even though that town in the article had a pretty significant and sophisticated system in place… isn’t really like a barter situation? Coming to think of that, I’m not sure I don’t appreciate a true barter system a bit more… it requires that everyone play a more active role in their own existence in that you would have to supply your own service or goods rather than support another.
Re Schools: When I went to school… a period I’m beginning to feel that is just barely past the era we could take off the pelts following the last ice age… a student stood out for good grades, yes, but also students stood out for having good attendance. It was the year AFTER I graduated that they started giving awards for good attendance… of course it was after I graduated. That guy “Murphy” sucks.
=)
eek, if M’Cain gets in I’m moving planets
So when the US dollar finally crashes (gets back to reality) It will be cheaper for me to come and visit. Hmm that would give me more travel options for where to travel after south east asia at the end of the year. I like that idea hey JANET I could come and talk about permiculture with you.
