Wow. Its nice to see an honest movie like this. Where has Jean Claude Van Damme been? Remember Blood Sport? Remember Double Impact? or how about Time cop? This movie reveals an innocence about a simple man that has truly reaped the benefits and the disadvantages of being an international action superhero. Van Damme plays Van Damme in his native country of Belgium in his declining years of a bmovie action hero. In a time when indie movies are very few and far apart, its inspiring to see a movie with such original perspectives find its way in our theaters. I know this movie may not be playing in a lot of cities, but if you’ve watched more than three Van Damme movies, this one is a must.

Does he do the splits in this movie too?

It wouldn’t be a Van Damme movie if he doesn’t do the splits.

You are the third or fourth person to mention this movie to me in the past week (Well, you didn’t mention it to me personally, but you know what I mean.). Everyone who’s told me about it seems to like it. I need to find this movie.

Kickboxer. I like the fight at the end with Tong Po. And I like how after they wrap their hands- they dip them in glue then crushed glass. Ouch!

Talia, it’s playing in Columbus this Friday. I’m actually taking a trip down there specifically to see this movie.

I’ve been all over this movie for awhile. I read reviews and “they” are saying that this movie will do for him what Pulp Fiction did for John Travolta.

If anyone is interested in locating the movie, I believe you can find out at jcvd-themovie.com

I’m a huge Jean Claude fan! :)

I heard about the movie. I want to see it. I like him as an action hero. After it’s out of theaters, it will be on on damand. They are to be getting it. I like him in univer. soldier and well I forget the name. It was on sci fi channel. Him killing dead people. It was a ora. movie that sci fi makes and airs every sat.

What I mean by saying what it did for John Travolta is… his career was tanking and Pulp Fiction made him a hot item again. And then he went and did Battlefield Earth…anyone remember that movie?

#13 Miss Allie on 11.25.08 at 8:31 pm

Is that the one where he had the weird eyebrows?

#14 Miss Allie on 11.25.08 at 8:33 pm

PS I didnt actually see the movie- I just remember seeing a pic somewhere and thinking: “What the???”

#15 Tiffany on 11.26.08 at 7:22 am

I heard of it (battlefield earth) but never seen it. Is it good. after grease he was tanking and Pulp fiction did bring him back. He did have some movies that sucked big time.

#16 Tiffany on 11.26.08 at 7:38 am

but I have to stick with my Jet Li movies. I love his movies ( The one, Romeo must die, cradle 2 the grave, and more).

#17 Nicky Mac on 11.26.08 at 3:20 pm

No, Battlefield Earth was a horrible movie. I think I might have seen a good 2 minutes of it. It won all the Razzie awards. For those of you not familiar with the Razzie’s… they are awards given to the worst movies, actor, actresses every year. And in 2000, Battlefield Earth had the horrible pleasure of getting 7 “Razzie” awards that year.

And Tiffany, I love Jet Li movies, but the really good ones for me is Jet Li’s Fearless, and Fist of Legend (that’s a remake of Bruce Lee’s Chinese Connection). I love when he does movies in his native language. He seems more comfortable in those roles.

Well Janet if Sung ever needs a dishwasher at his restaurant he can call me it’s what I currently do for a living along with other useful stuff around the restaurant I currently work at.

#19 Nekia on 11.27.08 at 8:23 am

Looks like a good movie. I wouldn’t mind seeing it.

I just got back from Columbus. I drove 2 and 1/2hrs to see JCVD and it was worth it. It’s not your typical Van Damme movie, it’s something almost “realistic”. And the the acting was superb. I couldn’t believe it.

There is one point in the movie where Van Damme talks into the camera and I literally had a lump in my throat. It seemed so sincere that it made me cry.

I would definitely see this movie again and I recommend it to those who are interested in seeing another side of Jean-Claude Van Damme. :)

#21 Teresa Ellis on 11.29.08 at 3:45 pm

I would like to see this… but I haven’t seen it listed anywhere locally. I have always been a fan of Jean Claude… the only time I’m not interested in hearing what he has to say is when he waxes romantic about his own behind. Yes, he has a spectacular one… no, I don’t want to hear him talking about it. I’ve always liked him… and was happy to hear he had gotten back together with his former (and current) wife… good for him. Found out just recently that he is reported to be bipolar… he has my sympathies and my well wishes.

#22 Twilight Princess on 11.30.08 at 12:34 pm

Never like him, or Segall for that matter..found them to pretentious and fake..waaay over-rated!

#23 Tony on 12.01.08 at 5:24 pm

Well, hopefully, this will be his chance to make a come back….

Still….
DAMME Hard………..
DAMME Strong……..

Bloodsport and the first Segal movies were best.

#25 Tiffany on 12.04.08 at 10:28 am

I love all his movies. Jet li’s. I forgot about fearless that was hard. movies with his native laug. are good to. But I didn’t like War as much. It was one of the frist one of his movies that was ok. I keep thinking it was going to be more then what it was. The forbidden kingdom it was about time jet li and jackie chan was in a movie together

#26 Nicky Mac on 12.04.08 at 2:29 pm

War had me confused. And thats the main reason I didn’t like it that much. It wasn’t until the last 5 minutes or so that you finally understood what it was all about. But had they explained it from the beginning, then there really would be no movie there. I think they were trying to throw the element of surprise in there. :(

At this point, after seeing JCVD, you cannot lump Jean-Claude in the same sentence with Segal anymore. JCVD was really unbelievably great. Who knows, maybe Steven Segal has more depth to his acting…. maybe we’ll see that one day.
