I don’t know about you guys, but I know that I’ve been feeling the pain at the pump. Just the other day, I was driving around and I saw at some gas station, it was $4.20 for premium. It’s ridiculous.
And then about a week or so ago, I stumbled across an interesting article in Business week about Exxon. It basically showed how powerful the energy companies really are. Exxon hasn’t and doesn’t plan on producing anymore barrels than it is right now despite the cost of oil. When it came down to it, Tillerson (Exxon Chairman) basically said that he didn’t give the s#$% about the consumers as long as Exxon is capitalizing on as much money as they can. It’s crazy. If any other CEO said that, he’d be fired on the spot just from the negative publicity. I guess it just comes down to how dependent our country has become on oil.
Anyways, there’s my first random rant on my blog. Again, I urge you guys to please support me and subscribe to my email newsletter or my RSS feed.

Hey Sung,
This has nothing to do with gasoline, I just wanted to say that I’m a big fan of yours. I first saw you in BLT (wasn’t as big a fan back then…), but my respect for you grew exponentially seeing you in less serious roles in Finishing The Game, and even in the Mad TV skits with Bobby Lee. You have this ability to convey so much with so few words, and I hope you get a chance to show your full colors in a major Hollywood vehicle, cuz I could totally see you kicking some serious ass (figuratively, not literally).
Keep it up! You’re the man.
James
Hi Sung,
That was an interesting read and a really worthy rant. I live in Newcastle, England and having just swung by a filling station i can honestly say that you guys really don’t have it that bad, the price of premium here, and i kid you not, is $11.72!! I weep every time i have to fill up on a nurse’s salary! Desperate times, desperate measures……..Fell free to put in a bid on my left kidney on ebay.

I heard that gas was outrageous out west. I’m in Jersey..it fluctuates here. My father lives in NY. He always tries to fill up in Jersey before he goes home. I’m just curious, are things in general more expensive out there? I haven’t been to LA in a long time. I don’t remember how things were.
BTW, I’m a really big fan. Actually, it’s sort of bordering on obsession. It must be a midlife crisis. But then, I’ve got an MA in Asian Studies and worked with Koreans ( Hyundai) and even dated Korean and Japanese men.
You guys have just got something going on that makes this white woman nuts!
Your skits on mad tv make my day. Nothing funnier than two grown men slapping each other like girls!
I’m sure you have heard this all before. You are very sexy (especially when you speak in Korean, even if it’s bad Korean).
I wish nothing but the greatest success in your career. I intend to get BLT, The Motel and Undoing asap. I’ve already seen Finishing the Game. Wow was that great.
Hope you blog again soon. Any special plans for your birthday? It’s coming up soon.
Take care and be careful washing all those dishes!
Janet
Wow, that’s high. In Mississippi it only $3.45 a gallon. Guess I’ll give up my dreams of moving out west.
Kelly…we could always carpool…
Hey, I just paid 3.03 for regular this morning.
Damn the Exxon Man….I guess I should not complain about $3.50 here in Texas compared to $4.20 a gallon….but I feel the concern with families here with a lower income that need to get around town..and it also does not help with the increasing Toll Road Rates here in Houston…do I hear a Recession is in the midst?
I thought petrol was expensive here, but it seems to be cheaper here in Sydney at around $1.30-$1.60 per litre for premium unleaded & closer to $2 for diesel fuel
We see this type of behavior in a lot of markets. Currently… and off-hand… the diamond market is very similar. But we also see instances where government steps in and takes certain markets down a peg too. I doubt that will happen with the oil market because it is so pervasive and powerful… I think it would take a concerted effort on behalf of the customer to make a difference in “the powers that be” on such powerful boards. Therein lies the problem… getting everyone on the same page for action rather than rhetoric.
Hey Sung,
I just wanted to point out that you are one of my favorite Asain American actors in Hollywood. And try getting into more films…so I can see you getting your Oscar soon enough. Now I turn 16 in July, and already I’m starting to worry about how I’m going to fill the tank of my future car (which is waiting for me in my garage). Well I would get a job, but I want to live out my childhood, before I worry about working.
Also while I was reading this, I noticed that you made a grammatical error, it is not “he didn’t give the s#$% ” it is actually “he didn’t give a s#$% about the consumers”. Yea… I just wanted to point that out.
And happy way belated B-Day.
Just as long as “supporting” you doesn’t mean we provide gasolina. Lol!!
sung , iv got to tell you gas is high all over i paid 3.85 at the pump to day and that was the lowest it’ been in my area in some time im in fairborn ohio, these prices are crazy im paying 140 a week just to get to and from work, and i lookfor gas price’s to keep going up and up
thousands of people around the world already converted their car’s truck’s and motor bikes to run both on water and gas , check out water/ hybrid.com. I got an few tip’s on saving on gas tip #1 - shop non brand name gas station’s. tip # 2- some people belive premium grade is best for there car’s , not true read your car;s manual to se what’s recommended by the manufactuer many recomend regular grade. tip#-3 DON’T TAP OFF STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT TOP OFF USUALLY REMAIN’S IN THE HOSE OR LOST IN EVAPORATION, Tip # -4, TIRE PRESSUR TIRES NOT FULLY INFLATED CAN COST 10% MORE IN GAS. I just read that due to the price of gas, that push mowers are making an come back, and to look for the price of gas to reach 4.48 and more , i dont know about you but i thank it’s crazy to hafe to pay these prices for gas.

I am supporting you on this ridiculous gasoline prices. I was living in L.A. for the longest and to see the gas say $4.25. WTF, it is worst in Tokyo, Japan. Soon we will have to be riding bicycles like most people do in China and Japan. This has got to stop, I wasting $700 a week when I could be using the money to help go to the various charities like the “China Hope Project” and some of my charites for the earthquake victims of the Sichuan province in China. I urge you to help out the earthquake victims in China.
i jst read i the new’s papper that gas will stay around $4 in ohio any way, thta’s still high, i remmber when gas was $1.50 A GALLON
The price of gas is outrageous … here in Germany some people have to pay half of their income just to get to work. And they don’t have much to live on. The Games that the oil companies are playing with us is OUTRAGEOUS. It’s amazing to see how scruples people can be when it comes to money. Obviously that’s all that the oil companies are interested in. And that’s what you call an economic crisis.
The consumers are really getting screwed. And that is a crime.
