Electricity vs Gasoline

For those of you that’ve been reading my blog for a while, I wrote a review a long time ago on the Tesla. It’s a plug in electric car that was developed out here in California. Now that it’s come out, I found a good video from Top Gear where Jeremy Clarkeson compares it against the Lotus Elise. I think the chassis is based on the Elise, making it a good comparison of electric versus gasoline.

Yeah I heard about this…sounds interesting! They will have to set up “charging stations”.I read somewhere that GM along with other partners are planning to launch the Chevy Volt in 2010….Jeremy and the rest of the guys are soooooo hilarious on Top Gear :)

Top gear is a hilarious show… hm wonder how the Tesla would go trying to cross the English Channel? ;) lol. Tho i guess the point in all this is trying to find reliable and efficient modes of transport that don’t rely on the ol gasolina! Somehow i think in the long term it won’t be individual forms of transport (ie i think we’ll become increasingly reliant on public transport).

Top Gear rocks! How is christmas looking for everyone? I’m going to be sleeping in after doing a double shift christmas eve and then I’m working chrissy night. oh the fun of working in hospitality. I get to chill out afterwards though by going a surfing down the gold coast YES! I can’t wait…. I am really really scared of sharks. The surfing is to make up for not doing the skydiving I declared I’d do before the end of the year but plan on doing in the new year.

Yeah, I saw that one, it was actually faster than the Elise in a drag race, but the Elise was better for maneuvering. The Tesla also ran out of power much faster that the gasoline engine and took a long time (16 hours, I think) to recharge. I think that Hydrogen fuel cells make more sense, and they only emit water as a by product of the process. Hydrogen is also the most abundant chemical element. It is highly flammable, but with our new technology we are able to make it more safe, so we don’t have any mini Hindenburg’s running around. You’re also able to refuel with hydrogen in much the same way as you would with regular gasoline. This makes things easier for everyone. I believe Honda has already released a hydrogen model. In fact Jay Leno has one. It’s very interesting.

yeah , I saw this episode didnt the tesla end up shuting down in the middle of the track after a cople of miles and then he compared how much clean energy it would take to try and re-charge the vehicle.
The tesla though is kind a sexy ….. way hotter then the prius and I think theres an episode that jay leno says that on top gear.
(im sorry if its in this episode I cant watch it on my computer Im at work … )
i cant wait for the chevy volt though that seems to be promising …
