Corner Place

Have you ever eaten something that is delicious but impossible to describe? Well, Corner Place in Ktown is famous for this special cold noodle soup dish. The cold noodle soup dish is, well, according to my tastebuds indescribable. It is called dong chimi kook soo in Korean. It’s cold, it’s white, it’s a bit tangy, and it’s delicious. You have to try it and then you’ll understand. The cold noodles complement the Korean bbq perfectly. Meat and cold noodles. Whoever knew…

It’s freezing in Ohio, so I wouldn’t want that. But that’s not to say that the picture doesn’t look delicious. I’m gonna have to do some research for Korean resturants in Cleveland. I’m very into trying new foods. I hated sushi the first time I tried it and now I love it.

Obviously the flavor must have exploded in your mouth, leaving you so completely overwhelmed that you are unable to pin point any particular flavor…. Sadly, that’s never happened to me. ;(.

One day it’ll happen! :)

Hm…would they be offended if I asked them to heat it up a bit?

Oooo, and can they substitute with rice noodles instead?

And maybe add a few beef balls, sliced rare beef and well done brisket?

And with a side of mint leaves, bean sprouts, hot and hoisin sauce….and a wedge of lime???

Hey Nicky Mac; I’m from Cleveland too and I have to agree. It’s much too frigid right now to eat something cold.

This post reminds me of my coworker, who was eating cookies and cheese the other day. The thought of it made me gag. However, she said her favorite combination is oatmeal cookies and sharp cheddar cheese. Yech.

Have any of you ever tried that?

Talia and Nicky Mac….shout out for Ohio–I’m in Cincinnati.

Sung, I’ve never had the cold noodle soup. But I’ll try it when I get the chance :)

I think it’s only a local LA thing. I’ve heard no mention of it in Nor Cal or anywhere else.

yes it is yummy but if you have ordered it in Sth Korea by mistake (coz my Korean sucks) and are expecting a hot dish, it’s not so good. This happened to me twice. doh.

Well its to cold in pittsburgh right now. snow and ice on the ground. Last year in nov. it was hot 65. I have to stick to hot foods right now. I can’t eat raw fish, well I don’t eat fish at all. Don’t like it. If it was beef or chicken I would try it.

And the Steelers we are numder 2 right now in the NFL. we are going to the play offs again. Pittsburgh rules again in foot ball.

Although I’m not fond of cold soup, I’d try it at least once.

I live about a half hour from Cleveland. And too cold out for me but the soup does look good. I’ll have to see if I can find that anywhere around here.

I actually found a Korean resturant in Cleveland. Not sure if they offer that soup, but I’ll have to check it out.

All these Ohio people… :)

There is a ton of Korean resturants and korean owned bussiness in pittsburgh. I only buy my squares off of them. They are fresher from them and two min. from my house walking. The women (sam) is also every nice, thats the main risen I go there. She is the biggest sweetheart. She knows all her cust. by name. Which is very welcoming. I always get food to go, when I am on lunch break from kenny (a korean own resturant) food is very good there. Fav resturant.

That is so not fair. I think I’d be lucky to find one Korean restaurant in Australia. It’s been hard enough finding a bookshop with a Korean cookery book and that was a second hand book shop. I’ve gotta get out of this country. The sooner the better. The dish sounds beautiful thank you for the suggestion Sung.

I LOVE THAT STUFF!! i practically grew up on it when i was a kid (if we finished the noodles, my dad would reward us with slurpies from the 7-11 next door), and i try to get it as much as i can during the hot l.a. summers. tried to take jason t. there a couple summers back, but they were closed. thanks for acknowledging the dong-chi-mi gook-soo’s awesomeness!

Can anyone recommend a place in KTown for some good “fast food” like dduk buk ki or bibimbap? Visiting from Seattle and looking forward to eating some good Korean food.
