Have you guys been watching the olympics? Mr. Phelps is doing some amazing things. I know he’s been favored in most of his races, but there’s still been some crazy finishes. The first 4 x 100 Free relay was amazing how Jason Lezak came back to catch the French team in the last 25 meters. Then last night, Phelps had another unbelievable finish out touching the Cavic by one one-hundredth of a second.
It’s also kind of weird how some countries just dominate the these odd little sports that most people only see in the Olympics. Like badminton and table tennis, I swear it’s all Chinese people representing their countries playing Chinese people from other countries. But I guess thats what happens when Chinese people account for about a fifth of the world’s population.
That was Awesome. If you guys missed the opening ceremony, you definitely have to catch a replay of it. It was out of this world. Zhang Yimou has out done himself this time. Every little segment was simply spectacular in its own unique way. Not only that, but he incorporated so many different universal themes that we all need to think about. My favorite had to be the people defying gravity and walking around the giant ball (last picture).
Despite all the controversy behind China and the olympics, it’s still a great place for some amazing athletes to showcase their skills. From what it seems like, most of the negative publicity has died down, and hopefully the we’ll all be able to concentrate on all the positive aspects of the upcoming Olympics. You ever watch commercials, remember them for a while, but have no idea what they were trying to sell to begin with? I don’t know about you, but that happened to me a lot. Here was one of my favorites from the 90’s.
Sounds ironic, but its a shame that it is actually happening in our current economy right now. IndyMac bank has actually gone bankrupt, thus many people will actually be losing money that they put in. I don’t really know what to tell you. You always hear about your bank being FDIC insured, but you never really think that it’s something that you’re really going to use. At least most people that had accounts with them will get their money back through the FDIC. But it’s really a shame that the people that had more than $100,000 in an account with IndyMac will actually be losing some of their money. I guess thats one lesson to take from this, if you’re sittin with a big chunk of cash, don’t keep it all in one bank, or better yet….leave some of it under your mattress at home.
UPDATE to Pre-Paid Gasoline: Over the weekend, it came to my attention that mygallons.com may not be a legit company through an LA Times article that I linked to below. Thus, I hope none of you actually signed up with them, or at least did some more research before you did. I’m extremely sorry if any of you did, and I hope the article (LA Times) will be wrong in your case.
I’ve always had a fascination with pre-fab houses ever since they’ve become much more modern and unique. One thing I just learned, and I bet you guys didn’t know is that Toyota has actually been fabricating prefab houses for over 30 years. Given, it accounts for less than 1% of their company compared to their automotive division, but it seems like they’re still building some cool looking homes. I wouldn’t mind living in some of these. I’d have to go with either number 11 or number 12 myself.
What are they gonna come up with next? It seems like Dubai just has so much money, they can’t stop coming up with crazy things to build. They’ve already built their palm tree islands, and the world map islands seem like they’re just about done.
Now they’ve announced a skyscraper that will consist of 80 rotating floors. The wind will cause the skyscraper to dynamically change its shape. On another good note, it will also be self sufficient for energy by using wind turbines on every floor to generate power.
I just saw this article on the news about the most complex crop circle ever.
Apparently its some mathematical representation of the first 10 digits of pi (3.141592654). After I read that article…and a few minutes later, its amazing what a simple google images search can do for you. Here’s some other cool ones I found.
This is a cool list that brought up lots of memories. Its funny how certain cars become associated with movies. You see that one car on the big screen as a kid, and then it seems like your telling yourself; “I’m gonna own that car someday,” pretty much for the rest of your life. Exactly like you told yourself years ago while you were walking out of the theatre. Anyways, here’s some of the memorable cars that stuck out in my mind. I do agree with the #1 most memorable car being the Delorean from “Back to the Future.”
