This movie came up because I heard they just made a remake of this with Elisha Cuthbert. I thought I’d bring the original Korean version up before the American one is released. I’m not saying the American one is gonna be bad or anything, but the Korean one really is gonna be hard to beat. I know this isn’t my typical genre, but I have to admit, it’s entertaining for a chic-flic. Both characters are intriguing and quirky in their own ways. I’m positive all you girls will love this movie, and for the guys, if it’s her turn to pick, you could do a lot worse than this. The Boondock Saints
March 27th, 2008 — Movie Reviews
Troy Duffy created an awesome action movie dealing the balance of good and evil in the world. It’s about two Irish brothers who reluctantly find themselves in this battle with the Russian Mafia. Though they’re not very believable, Boondock Saints has some CRAZY action sequences. William Dafoe’s stupefying performance is reason in itself to watch this movie. I guarantee you that his over-the-top character is gonna make you crack up.
Not only that, but there’s an interesting documentary, “Overnight” that goes into the struggles of making a movie. Troy Duffy was a typical bartender who came to Los Angeles to make it big in Hollywood. And overnight, everything seemed on track when he struck a deal with Mr. Weinstein. Little did Troy know the true power of Hollywood. Reconstruction
March 23rd, 2008 — Movie Reviews
Directed by Christoffer Boe. For a first time director, this dude is dope. Another filmmaker from Denmark. What are they doing out in Denmark to make these kind of films? I don’t even want to explain this movie to you all. You must check it out. Its different. Reconstruction is like a poem or a quote that gets you thinking about long after the movie is over. We must remember that film is an art and there are still a lot of films out there that remind us all that we haven’t seen everything yet. In China They Eat Dogs
March 23rd, 2008 — Movie Reviews
Directed by Lasse Spang Olsen. In China they eat dogs, and in Denmark they make badass movies. A friend recommended this movie to me and it was well worth it. Its an old film-made in 1999, but a classic on my shelf. Its about a dude who thinks that he has found a righteous cause in the world of thievery. He knows nothing about this matter and reunites with his underworld gang leader blood brother to pull off th caper. The story continues as the two very different brothers are reunited and justify their means of living. As always I don’t want to spoil the ending for you, but I really liked this film. It’s a bit old, but it’s a refreshing movie to say the least. There is a whole bunch of action, strange amount of dark comedy and unrelenting honesty about the choices we make in life. Check it out, its worth a netflix or amazon pickup.
