I just saw this article predicting that gasoline prices will drop to a dollar a gallon sometime early next year. Six months ago, this is something that we all would have killed for. But now that its possible, its sort of brings up mixed feelings. I mean, it’s great and all for the final consumers. But at the same time, it just goes to show how bad our economy really is.
Here’s the original article that I found this in. I won’t list all the numbers regarding our economy because they’re kind of depressing if you ask me. But feel free to read the original article if you’d like. For now, I guess we can take the gas prices as a victory..and maybe a little jump start to getting our economy back on track.

Heres a cool video I stumbled on. It has a young Jack Nicholson endorsing a hydrogen powered Chevy way back in the 70’s. None of the technology is new, but it’s still interesting to see how this video relates to all these issues that are still so relevent 30 years later.
Pre-paid Gasoline

UPDATE: Thanks to DUMBO, I’ve been informed that this company may not be a legitimate company from this article published by the LA Times (http://www.latimes.com/technology/la-fi-mygallons4-2008jul04,1,7601156.story). They’ve received an F from the Better Business Bureau. I’m so sorry for providing you guys with bad information. I hope I didn’t give them any excess business assuming the article is true.
Here’s an interesting concept (www.mygallons.com). It’s a company that allows people to pre-purchase gas at a certain price, in anticipation that the price is going to go up. I hate the fact that a company like this can thrive, but with gas what it is right now, it only makes sense. I know everyone keeps thinking that the prices have peaked but they never seem to stop rising. They have a 30$ initial fee, but then from what it seems, (and their 100% satisfaction guarantee), you can’t really lose. Because even if the price does drop a little bit, you can always just buy gas with a normal credit card, and save those pre-paid gallons for another tank (assuming it will go back up eventually).

More Crazy Gas Prices
May 13th, 2008 — Gasolina
When I posted a month at the end of March, I had noticed one gas station around LA with the $4.20 price tag. Now, about month and a half later, it seems like thats become the normal price throughout the country. It’s getting a little ridiculous if you ask me. I was reading an article talking about how the price of gas is gonna start putting mom and pop gas stations out of business. It talked about the old mechanical gas pumps that aren’t even built to count higher than $3.99. Its kind of ironic isn’t it, gas prices so high they’re gonna start putting gas stations out of business.

Gasolina

I don’t know about you guys, but I know that I’ve been feeling the pain at the pump. Just the other day, I was driving around and I saw at some gas station, it was $4.20 for premium. It’s ridiculous.
And then about a week or so ago, I stumbled across an interesting article in Business week about Exxon. It basically showed how powerful the energy companies really are. Exxon hasn’t and doesn’t plan on producing anymore barrels than it is right now despite the cost of oil. When it came down to it, Tillerson (Exxon Chairman) basically said that he didn’t give the s#$% about the consumers as long as Exxon is capitalizing on as much money as they can. It’s crazy. If any other CEO said that, he’d be fired on the spot just from the negative publicity. I guess it just comes down to how dependent our country has become on oil.
Anyways, there’s my first random rant on my blog. Again, I urge you guys to please support me and subscribe to my email newsletter or my RSS feed.
