Here’s a list from Spike about the 7 Ugliest cars.
7. Yugo GV
6. Mercedes G-Class
5. Ford Mustang II
4. Pontiac Aztec
3. VW Thing
2. Citroen 2CV
1. AMC Pacer
I do agree that you’d probably never catch me driving any of these cars. Even though they’re not all that bad aesthetically, they all have at least one bad aspect of their design. Whether its an underpowered engine, a box on wheels, or just plain ugly. I’ve never seen the #2-Citroen 2CV in person, but the article states that the designer pitched it as a low-priced, rugged “umbrella on wheels.” Not only that but he specifically raised the roof so tall people can wear hats in it. And the last #1-Pacer has almost become an iconic image of badly designed american cars in the 70’s. Do you guys remember what movie featured Pacer?

All I know is I like the old school muscle cars. They are better put togher then these new cars today. The third one you can do something with. Just put some fixing on it.
Wasn’t the pacer in that SNL movie with Wayne and Garth? I never really watched it except in passing… didn’t it have flames on it?
I remember the Yugo… I remember seeing more of them being towed than running the street on their own power. I suppose if you got 2 years out of one, you got your money’s worth. ???
I just googled pacers in movies to check my facts… pages and pages of movies and shows with pacers… who compiles all of these things?
Raised the roof so you could wear your hats… hmmm… very thoughtful. There is only one time I can remember needing that… I was moving to a new house with two tiny kittens… riding down the street with 1 perched on my shoulder and the other on top of my head… tail hanging down beside my ear like some kind of Daniel Boone fashion. It’s a wonder I didn’t cause an accident as I remember more people were laughing out loud at me than paying attention to the road. I recommend carriers. =)
Its funny that you have all these older cars and then BAM!… enter the Aztec. I always wondered why Pontiac went with that design, as I never saw the appeal.
I actually had a friend who had a red Yugo and he tried to enter it into a local contest to get it “pimped”. Too bad he couldn’t get it started; I’m sure seeing a “pimped” Yugo would be a sight to see.
I agree with you that cars are ugly same.. =) In my opinion I didn’t want any car of that type. =)
The pimping of it would’ve have cost more than the car. =) Yeah… pimp it out… if it doesn’t run, you can use it for a lawn ornament.
RE that boxy looking mercedes up there… not to buy (somewhere my bank is laughing)… but I think almost every maker came out with an ugly box version a few years ago… not an SUV or a cross, just an ugly car. I think most makers are angling or rounding them out again… but for awhile it was like, “ugh… really?”
Yeah…some of these make you scratch your head. What was the designer thinking?
I still remember a guy I knew in high school, giving me a ride home in a patched-together Chevette. That thing was so loud, I called it the “Mad Max Mobile.” I still can’t believe it got us home.
I didn’t even know that Mercedes still made the G Class. And it starts at $88k. And I agree Tiffany, I think that just about every car company has had a “WTH” car(s).
I think that if the Ford Mustang gets some work done it won’t look that bad…adds some character you know what I mean? They should try changing it to black!
psst… Sung, can I borrow that bag up there for my car?
LOL…
That 1974 Ford Mustang II (the blue one, I think that’s what it is). Isn’t that ugly I’ve seen worse been driven around my town.
LoL, those are all funny looking cars. Haha, a friend of mine used to have that Pontiac Aztec, a red one too just like the picture. It was hella ugly, but hey, it got you from point A to B.
hey sung, i’m from argentina and i want to know what you drive in the movie tokyo drift, i can’t find it.
