My friends at Arowanafilms produced this video in collaboration with comedian Danny Cho, and actress/editor Grace Su. It may not be necessarily politically correct, but they do manage to bring some attention to a serious situation that is happening in North Korea.
And for any of you guys that are in the Los Angeles area on Monday night, they’ll be sitting on a panel discussing independent filmmaking at Visual Communications.
I’m sure all of you techies know all about these new netbooks, but probably not all of you. I just saw this Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Netbook, and it’s pretty enticing. Personally, I think these netbooks are in genius. They should have invented these when I was a kid. They’re perfect for college students. Small, light, and CHEAP (anywhere from $300-500 which is pretty good for a laptop) laptops that do everything that most people do on their computers. And they’re the perfect size to carry in your backpack. I’d probably go for either the Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Netbook or the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-1208U Netbook. They feel like they’re more solid and durably built than the others. Although you could probably get the best bang for your buck going with some of the cheaper models like the Acer Aspire One AOA150-1126 8.9-Inch Netbook or the ASUS Eee PC 900HA 8.9-Inch Netbook.
Since I’m pretty sure all of you will be watching history in the making today, I thought I’d share some pictures of his college years that I got from Time.
And here’s Mr. Obama with Joe the Plumber’s green plunger.
And one last picture of Mr. Obama gettting some shuteye (hopefully he’ll manage to get some of this tonight, before one of the biggest days in America).
Most of you may have heard but there was a plane crash yesterday, yet the good news is that all 155 people survived the crash. Apparently the aircraft struck a flock of geese which took out both engines as the plane was taking off. Then the pilot - Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger - was forced to perform a heroic landing on the Hudson River. Heres some footage from msnbc:
I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays as much as I did. Anyways, here’s a cool video I found about some extreme athletes. These guys are nuts. They pretty much come as close to flying people as you can get. Just watch the video and you’ll know what I’m talking about.
I’m sure many of you have already seen the trailers for Watchmen, but if you haven’t, you can see them here. Here’s a cool behind the scenes video about the making of.
Based on the trailer, it looks like it’ll be one of next year’s biggest movies. It looks pretty badass if you ask me.
On another note, I just read an article over the copyrights of this movie. Apparently, FOX owns the rights to Watchmen. Its kind of a weird situation because FOX has owned the rights for over 20 years. So WB messed up on their end, giving the green light to the movie without making sure they had the rights. Meanwhile, FOX waited until now to claim their copyrights, after the whole movie was made, and all the marketing has hyped it up to be one of the biggest movies of 2009. Hopefully this won’t effect the release or any creative aspects of the movie. And I guess the two studios will just have to share some of the proceeds with each other for what looks to be an awesome movie.
I think we’ve all heard of Kwanzaa, but how many of you all really know what its really all about?
I lifted this from a site:
“Kwanzaa is a unique African American celebration with focus on the traditional African values of family, community responsibility, commerce, and self-improvement. Kwanzaa is neither political nor religious and despite some misconceptions, is not a substitute for Christmas. It is simply a time of reaffirming African-American people, their ancestors and culture. Kwanzaa, which means “first fruits of the harvest” in the African language Kiswahili, has gained tremendous acceptance. Since its founding in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, Kwanzaa has come to be observed by more than 18 million people worldwide, as reported by the New York Times.”
Well now I know, and now you know. So whatever you celebrate, Happy Holidays to you all and lets all finish this year out happy!
GO SEE IT! Danny Boyle just gets better as he gets older. You may remember some of his early work such as Trainspotting, 28 days later, and Sunshine. Slumdog Millionaire is one of the most amazing movies I never knew I’d be interested in. Its inspiring to see strong ability still exist in this capitalistic industry. He paints a portrait of India that I have never seen before. A heartwarming, “real” story that has strong themes and serious realities in a world that is very influenced by the west. Anyways, I know I only review the movies I like, but like they say in the industry, word of mouth is still the best marketing tool that there is. And although I have no stake in this project, I am just compelled to help spread the word.
Here’s a cool article I found summing up this chaotic year of 2008 with photography. I was pretty much speechless after many of these photographs, so I’ll just let them speak for themselves. WARNING: There are some graphic images. And you can find captions for the images here at the original article.
